Is Superset free?
No. Superset gives you a 3-day free trial with every feature unlocked, and after that it is a subscription: $49.99 a year, $7.99 a month, or $3.99 a week in the US. There is no permanent free tier, no free version of the logger, and no way to keep using the app once the trial ends without paying. The paywall arrives at the end of onboarding and it has no close button. If you want a workout tracker you can use for years without spending anything, this page names the ones that actually do that.

You may be looking for a different Superset
If you arrived here about Apache Superset, the open-source data exploration and dashboarding tool, that is a different product entirely and it is free under the Apache 2.0 licence. This page is about Superset the iPhone workout tracker.
Superset logs your whole workout from one spoken sentence. iPhone only, 873 exercises built in, 3 days free then $49.99 a year.
Start the free trialWhat the 3-day trial includes
Everything. The trial is not a stripped demo, and nothing is held back for paying users: voice logging, the AI coach that picks your next weight, all 873 exercises with photos and instructions, routine import, the progress dashboard and cloud backup are all live from the first session.
It starts from the paywall you meet at the end of onboarding. That screen is a hard gate, so the only ways past it are starting the trial or restoring a subscription you already own. If you close the app without doing either, the wall is there again on the next cold launch.
Because it is an App Store introductory offer, the trial runs through your Apple ID and needs a payment method on file, in the normal Apple way. If you do not cancel before the third day is up, it converts to whichever plan you picked.
What happens when the trial ends
- You are charged for the plan you selected, at $49.99 a year, $7.99 a month or $3.99 a week, unless you cancelled at least 24 hours beforehand.
- Nothing switches to a free mode, because there is no free mode to switch to. There is no ad-supported tier and no limited version that keeps working after the trial.
- Your data stays yours. Workouts you logged during the trial remain on the device and in your backup, so an unpaid gap does not delete your history.
- Cancelling does not end the trial early. Apple keeps access running until the trial period expires, so you can cancel on day one and still use it until day three.
How to cancel before you are charged
Cancelling goes through Apple rather than through the app, which also means refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. The developer cannot reverse an App Store charge.
- Open the iPhone Settings app and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Superset in the list.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
- Check the renewal date shown on that screen. Apple needs the cancellation at least 24 hours before it, so cancelling on day two of a 3-day trial is cutting it close.
Workout trackers that genuinely are free
If your question was really "can I track my lifting without paying", the answer is yes, just not with this app. These are the honest options, with the actual caps.
- Hevy: the most generous of the well-known trackers. Four routines and seven custom exercises free, with your full history readable rather than rationed. Removing the caps costs $2.99 a month or $23.99 a year, the cheapest paid tier in the category.
- Strong: unlimited workouts and unlimited history on the free tier, capped at three routines. Paid is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year.
- HeavySet: unlimited improvised workouts with no payment at all, plus free CSV export. The limit falls on routines you have saved, which you can only run a set number of times before upgrading.
- Liftoff: logging is free, with the ranks and competition features behind a paid tier.
- JEFIT: free with ads, and the largest exercise database of the group, with video demonstrations and a web interface.
- Apple's own Fitness app plus a notes app: no cost, no subscription, and it records sets and reps perfectly well. What you lose is the automatic comparison with the same lift six weeks ago.
Is $49.99 a year worth it?
It depends entirely on whether the thing Superset does is the thing you need. It is roughly twice Hevy's annual price and about $20 more than Strong's, and both of those are mature apps with tens of thousands of ratings and free tiers you can live in. On features per dollar, they win easily.
What you are paying Superset for is not having to type. You finish training, hold a button, and say what you did. A model turns the sentence into structured exercises, sets, reps and weights, and a review screen shows you everything before it saves. Nothing else on the App Store does this. If the reason your last three training logs died is that logging became a chore, that is worth something, and if it is not your problem, the price is hard to justify.
Worth knowing before you decide: Superset launched in August 2026 and has no App Store ratings yet. It is iPhone only. There is no CSV export and no rest timer. Supersets and drop sets have no structured logging of their own, and Apple Health sync is written but switched off in the shipping build. Voice logging needs an internet connection. Everything else, including the full exercise library, works offline.
Frequently asked questions
Is Superset free?
No. Superset the iPhone workout tracker offers a 3-day free trial with all features unlocked, and after that it requires a subscription at $49.99 a year, $7.99 a month or $3.99 a week in the US. There is no permanent free tier and no free version of the app.
Does Superset have a free trial?
Yes, three days, and everything is included: voice logging, the AI coach, all 873 exercises with photos and instructions, routine import and cloud backup. It starts from the paywall shown at the end of onboarding and runs through your Apple ID like any App Store introductory offer.
How much does Superset cost?
$49.99 a year, $7.99 a month, or $3.99 a week in the US, after the 3-day free trial. The yearly plan works out at about $4.17 a month, which is why most people who keep the app choose it.
Can I use Superset without paying?
Only during the 3-day trial. The paywall at the end of onboarding is a hard gate with no close button, so the only ways past it are starting the trial or restoring an existing subscription, and it reappears on every cold launch until you subscribe.
How do I cancel a Superset subscription?
Through Apple, not through the app. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap Superset, then Cancel Subscription. Apple requires this at least 24 hours before the renewal date, and access continues until the current period ends.
What happens to my workouts if I stop paying?
Your logged sessions stay on the device and in your backup, so cancelling does not erase your training history. What you lose is access to the app's features, since Superset has no free tier to fall back to once the subscription lapses.
Do I need an account to use Superset?
No. Superset lets you continue as a guest rather than creating an account, so you can log workouts without handing over an email address. A subscription is still required after the 3-day trial, and that runs through your existing Apple ID.
What is a genuinely free alternative to Superset?
Hevy is the best free option for most lifters: four routines and seven custom exercises at no cost, with your full history readable. Strong gives you unlimited workouts capped at three routines, and HeavySet allows unlimited improvised sessions plus free CSV export. All three are free in a way Superset is not.
Is Superset free on Android?
There is no Android version. Superset is iPhone only, with no iPad, Android, web or Apple Watch app, so the question does not arise. Hevy, JEFIT, Fitbod and Alpha Progression all have Android versions if that is what you need.
Is this the same as Apache Superset?
No. Apache Superset is a free open-source tool for data exploration and dashboards, released under the Apache 2.0 licence. Superset the workout tracker is an unrelated iPhone app for logging weight training, and it is a paid subscription after a 3-day trial.
Stop typing between sets
Say what you lifted. Superset writes down every set, rep and weight, then tells you what to lift next time. iPhone only, 3 days free then $49.99 a year.
